Starting the gnome villagers

Hello OS Mini's fans
Today, the gnomish lord and lady are nearly done. And I have started the gnome villagers!

First, we have the gnome Lord. He's nearly done. I just need to finish his right hand glove atop his morning star. I am happy with his crown I aimed to have it give off a bit of a Rankin Bass vibe hearkening to the Thorin's armor in the 1977 Hobbit Cartoon. The picture at the bottom is the most recent pic, included to feature the gem on his crown. The top picture better features the details of the crown.

This is the gnome Lady. She is posed to optionally wield a shield in her left hand. Like the gnome Lord, she is posed as if looking eye to eye of a much taller adversary. The lady and lord's crowns were designed to borrow from the aesthetic of the other helmets in our gnome range. My intent was that she would end up with a defiant or determined pose. Hopefully I succeeded.

Next up, we have the armatures for the first four villagers. My goal for the villagers is that they should represent various trades so that they can function as decorations or provide narrative elements for vignettes or battles.

The first pose is a mushroom farmer. She will be crouched down, holding a mushroom stalk and chopping it with a small axe in the other hand.

This pose is a fan suggestion. It will be an older woman who is knitting hats. All those hats have to come from somewhere.

Next, a cobbler. He'll be seated tinkering with a shoe.

Finally, there is an armature for a goatherd.

5 more villagers will follow! This is what I am thinking:
2 children
Juggler
Beggar
Old Man

Feel free to comment if you have other villager ideas you'd like me to consider. :)

  1. Some great miniatures shown here. Thanks Byron. As an idea, a female gnome milking a goat or a gnome fishing with his rod or on his way to fish at the local pond.

    Thanks.

    1. Maybe the little fisherman could be showing how big his last catch was with an exaggerated show of his hands. Then again, can he really exaggerate with his tiny arms? Most fish are pretty big for a gnome. :)

  2. 100% you need a fisherman. A gnome elder on a walk through the village with his pet small dog (that is the size of him).
