So first, I have pics of the spearmen finished. There are 6 rank and file spearmen and 3 command models.
Let me know in the comments what troop types you'd like to see or if you have any comments or criticism. I am very open to hearing thoughts and opinions. I'm excited about these guys. I think they have a fun oldschool vibe.
Standard Bearer, I've sculpted a boar head and a boot that can be placed on top |
Bowmen
Next, I have started some bowmen to accompany our german peasants. Here are more WIP pics. Starting 4 rank and file poses so far. I am thinking another 3 rank and file poses and then a Germanic Fairytale Prince? as a character model.
Love your work. What's your plans for this range after you have completed the initial sets? Are you considering a survey to look upon for future ideas? Cheers, Helen (Down Under).
ReplyDeleteThe range is sorta pulled in two directions. On the one hand I sculpt primarily for tabletop wargaming. So the range has a eye toward army building and fulfilling basic army needs. So it will likely expand to include a few other standard troop types like halberdiers and a regiment of armed women. The other pull is my larger aesthetic project. That project is pulling fantasy gaming away from grimdark super epicness. To that end I think that I want them to feel fairytale adjacent - so I am thinking of character models that evoke Brother's grimm fairy tales, like a prince and princess set, a huntsman, a red riding hood type female ranger.
ReplyDeleteI have't yet sculpted a horse, but I may for this range if I sculpt up some road wardens or highwaymen.
Your ideas sound good. Looking at your initial miniatures for the period I think you are on a winner here. The Brother's Grimm angle is a great suggestion too and one of my favourite genre. Thank you for your reply.
